Brian Count, PhD: Chairman

Brian’s previous executive roles include Chief Executive of Innogy – a FTSE 100 Utility Company – and, following its acquisition by RWE of Germany, Chief Executive of RWE Trading (energy Trading). He has also been a member of the UK Industrial Development Advisory Board and a Non-Executive Director of Eskom (the state owned electricity utility) in South Africa. He is currently also Chairman and founding investor in Jacoma Limited, a company set up to develop an agricultural business in Africa and a Non-Executive Chairman of InfraCo Africa, which is a multi-lateral government fund that invests in the development of infrastructure assets in Africa.

Tanzi Besant, BSc(Hons): Managing Director and Founder

Tanzi is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Imperial College, London. Her industrial experience was gained primarily in the aircraft industry, including positions at British Aerospace and Rolls-Royce, where she worked under the direction of fellow Hiflux founder, John Coplin. She also spent several years on the staff of Imperial College working with industry in fields ranging from opto-electronics to advanced composite structures. She has managed Hiflux since its formation, successfully coordinating a number of funding rounds and grant applications.

David Barnes, PhD: Technical Director

David Barnes has been with Hiflux since 2001. David graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College where he later earned a PhD in the field of turbomachinery. David has particular expertise in finite element analysis and fluid dynamics.

Andrew O’Dell Vnukov, MEng: Engineering Director

Andrew gained a first in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College and has been with Hiflux since 2011. Andrew manages production and has particular expertise in product design and laser automation.

Warren Thornton, PhD CEng MIMechE: Application Development Manager

A Mechanical Engineering graduate of Berkeley, Warren went on to earn a PhD in turbomachinery at Imperial College. He has worked for several start-up companies in the medical, instrumentation and energy sectors. Warren is focusing on new applications for Hiflux technology, whilst maintaining his commitment to developing bespoke software for Hiflux’s performance analysis and automation.

Christine Booth, BPharm (Hons), MSc (APP), MRPharmS: Administration Manager

Christine has been the Administration Manager at Hiflux since the company was founded, having previously worked for other start-up companies. As a pharmacist, she was instrumental in installing an electronic prescribing system in a paediatric hospital and currently, when not at Hiflux, she is a senior pharmacist/technical analyst for the Epic electronic patient record system at her NHS Trust.
